Adam vanquish me to information technology, but Visio-similar or home drafting software is probable what you are later.  You could likewise throw LibreCAD at them if they are familiar with CAD software at all, but it doesn't audio like information technology.

I have used Google Sketchup to depict LAN port maps in the past.  Works great.

Visio is ok, but expensive

Visio is probably the all-time product for someone who is computer literate.  It is non an option for our maintenance department who can finally check their e-mail without my help.

Oddly enough, my boss made an excel spreadsheet of our master office, using borders, "square" cells, and whatnot for a seating plan (that also serves as a crude floor plan).

It's wonderfully piece of cake to change...

The other offices are going to suck...They aren't foursquare like this one...

I often recommend yEd or Dia, I utilize to rails network connections.
Pretty simple , free and with a lot of examples and templates.

P.South. LibreOffice is Visio-compliant (and for free)!

What output are you guys using when using Sketchup? Are you using a jpg or a complete network diagram and floorpan?

Was this mail service helpful? thumb_up thumb_down

Some other costless CAD solution is called DraftSight, it's a pretty robust AutoCAD clone. Might be a petty overwhelming if you've never used CAD software before, though...

At that place's also i called Archimedes that's free, geared more than for architects.

There are also some cloud-based apps that might be what you're looking for. I tried to utilize FloorPlanner to do some layouts when I moved into my new house, but plant it a petty frustrating and ended up just going back to CAD. For the technologically challenged, its drag-and-drib interface might be just what yous're looking for, though.

There's a GPL diagram-drawing replacement for Visio call Dia:

  • Dia - GNOME Live!
    https://live.gnome.org/Dia

I have not used this to draw floorplans.

There are free (public domain) Visio stencils with lots of shapes bachelor from Cisco here:

  • Visio Stencils User's Guide and FAQ
    https://www.cisco.com/en/U.s.a./prod/assets/visio/product_visio_icon0900aecd800940c3.html

Supposedly you lot tin catechumen Visio's VSD files into SVG files that Dia tin can employ with this tool:

  • vsd2svg - convert VSD files into SVG
    http://dia-installer.de/vsd2svg/alphabetize.html.en

LibreOffice can import Visio files, so using LibreOffice's Draw tool with free Visio stencils might be another possibility.

+1 SketchUp, especially at information technology is a one-off circumstance for one room.  Even MS Office'southward drawing tools could suffice.
